I have an 03 GMC 2500HD d/a I am so tired of hitting the recycle button in the a/c system. I wish it would stay on. Is there a fix for this? It gets annoying.

Are you turning the A/C off when shutting down the D/A? If so, try leaving the A/C on when shutting down. I've got an '01, maybe the '03s are different?

My recirculate button resets after a shut down too. Heck it turns off after a while too when the computer thinks its not needed. Cant see a time in Texas when its not needed.

Hmmm, mine stays in recirc after a shutdown and restart (5 days later).

Mine too. I always shut of all accessories prior to shutting down the truck. When I start back up and turn the fan on, recirc and snowflake are still turned on.

If your truck has the memory package, re-teach it with the A/C rec on. It should keep after that.

Memory package? lol

I turn on the Rec button 20 times a day. If it hasn't remembered it by now, I don't think it will ever.Every time I restart it needes to be hit.

My wife's 03 Yucon does the same thing. In South Florida we need the recurculation button on.

Mine don't show the snowflake when the AC is on, if I push the button and turn the snowflake on the AC quits working.

I have wondered about this sense the truck was new.Edited by: John R

Here in Maryland I prefer the AC to be in the fresh air mode. However, when the outside air is in the mid eighties to low nineties, the system will automatically switch between recirc and fresh air and raise or lower the fan speed to help maintain or keep close to the sixty degree setting I usually set the thermostat.

Maybe the differences are due to auto climate control. I do not have the auto. I have the dual zone manual HVAC controls.

Mine is auto climate control, if that helps.

Mine is kinda funny, but in a different way.

I think we all need to realize that our trucks come with different HVAC packages. Depending on year, trim level, cab conf., and if you have the Snowplow prep package.

I have the MANDATORY (Snowplow prep) Dual Zone Manual.

Push the SNOWFLAKE (A/C) button and then the RECIRC button and then, the button lights sometimes flash and and go out (OFF).

Then I have to push them again and they stay on.

Other times it works just fine. And mine DO stay on. Start after start. After sitting all weekend, start up, and A/C and RECIRC come on with the key.

I really LOVE the performance of this trucks HVAC. Cools GREAT, heats GREAT. Just wish I was able to get climate control with the Snowplow prep. Why should I be limited to basic HVAC just because I want to work my truck?

I say they should have manual control, and then at the press of a button, have a temperature control. As its sometimes tough to set a comfortable level on longer trips.

I think the button should remember its last setting no matter what type of control you have. In South Florida where I am from , we need the rec button to remember . I have the duel zone electronic control.

I hit the recirc button and it stays on without any further input by me...
