I have had my Edge for quite some time now and don't do much towing, but got to thinking about different programmers when towing. Edge suggest not to tow in any higher setting than level 2, which is like 60hp. A pro. like PPE Hot 2 has a lowest of 125hp and they consider that there towing level. So why could I not not with my Edge in Level 5?(yeah i know its stock). Is it just in the programming that keeps things like EGT's down?

I think it's mostly about what power the tranny can take without being damaged. I have the Edge and If I run it hard up a grade on level 2 I can get the EGTs up there in a hurry as you probably have seen yourself.

The way the parameter are setup from each company will determine which program to use when towing. Some will say lower and others higher. Depends on what you are towing, how heavy and for how long. I suggest towing on the lower settings to reduce EGT's and transmission wear.. Good luck

I wouldn't go higher than 2 on your edge just play it safe

Personally I am not going to tow in level 5. I mostly use level 3 without no probs on EGT's. It was just a curiousity question on how people can get by with an additional 125 horse without burning up the turbo especially on hilly terrain.

Each programmer or box is different in how they advance the timing and amount of fuel. I wouldn't tow with my ppe past my level 2 if even that probably setting 1

If you are talking about the old four level hot xcellarator, the highest level i'd to it in is one. If you are talking about the new hot +2 with 7 levels, up to 3, and on the hot +2 et. elim, up to level 4. If you don't have a trans upgrade, DON'T go that high.
