Hello again everybody, you guys helped me this past winter with a trans switch that went bad, your advice was right on the money, fixed it and got out of a jam. Thanks.
My truck is an 01 short box crew cab 2500 HD duramax.
Whats goin on with it? It has turned into a bonafide rattletrap. I got severe what- sounds- like- something -loose rattleing in what seems like the left and right side under where the hood hinges are, I checked everything I could see, took off fuse door on side of dash, checked all hinge parts and under fender, sounds like its in fenderwell. It just sounds like something loose and its getting worse.
Same on right side is starting to happen.
Also, it seems when I start enginge now, hell if something is not rattling around real bad, in right side of engine bay, almost sounds like a motor mount. Tell me this aint so! Sounds like a rubber snubber broke or something, hard to tell, but it dosent sound right.
Also have this "clunk" coming from underneath when I start out from a stop, almost a crunch, and truck seems to not engage from a standstill smoothly. What is it, a U joint? I checked em and I cant see any cracks.
Another thing is this chirping I get from the rear, Im thinking brake pad wear indicators, but seems to be tied in with the "clunk" It definatly sounds like a stressed cracked part.
So what do i do? Im not sure if the dealer I bring it to knows what their doing. Why?, I had the steering shaft lubed, and I asked them to lube all the grease fittings after a hard northeast winter, but I hear all kinds of squeaks under my truck, i srrayed everybinding point I could find with lithium grease.
Dealer said something about front shock somethings could be causing the rattles in front end. Unless Im missing something all the shocks look and feel tight.
I need help. And Im real concerned about the sever eshaking when engine turning over. Please, some advice. The truck is never beaten, just driven alot. 56,000 miles on it, with regular lube and oil changes.
