Greetings, got a Torqloc question for anyone w/ one installed in a 1995 6.5.

I've installed mine but I either have a VSS signal problem, or problem with the module itself, or just a problem determining the problem!

I've attached a picture of the wire/s I've tapped for the VSS so you can tell me if yours is using the same wire.

I called BD Diesel to see if I could 'meter' my VSS wire to make sure I'm getting signal, but they said it's a pulse width and can't be metered without an o-scope. They said I just have to make sure I've got the right color wire...green.

I've tried both the solid green VSS wire and the green/white stripe for the VVC for the radio, but though the radio volume does work w/ speed I'm still not certain that the module is getting signal. The LED never flashes and the Module will not lock up the converter. The BD switch is getting power and ground and illuminates white/green/red depending on position.

I've temporarily installed a TPST switch to control the TCC manually and it works fine. You can see in attached pics where I spliced into the TCC brown wire under the truck and well away from the factory plug into the 4l80e.

Anyway, just would like to know if anyone else w/ a 95 can confirm my VSS tap location shown in the attached pics.

Many thanks!

That looks right. I used the one for the radio on mine. I wrote an article for The Diesel Page describing the installation.

Thanks RJ!

I was pretty confident I had the right wire but am having one of those 'what if' scenarios... I was going to back out the green/white from the connector just to see if it'd kill my radio VVC to verify it, but don't think I need to.

I may determine that I just need to send my module to BD for testing to verify it's operational.

First I'm going to go back through the toggle switch w/ my meter to make sure it's contacting the correct terminals and re-check all my wiring...again...then I'll call BD and see if they can talk me through jumpering the module w/o using the toggle switch at all.

I dunno yet if a Torqloc and 3.42's is going to be a good match. Running the manual switch and engaging at 35mpg really holds engine rpms low - like 1000-1400. It's probably nicer w/ 3.73's or 4.10's...when letting the tranny shift on it's own. I can govern rpms by manually shifting it and keep it happier, though.
