Is anyone pulling double trailers? For example 5th wheel r.v. and a boat. I'm toying with the idea and was wondering about how to set it up, what it's like towing
and any laws pertaining to doing it.

I tow a 5er and boat. I have no problems. Downfall is that you can't see that boat unless you turn a corner. It tows like a dream. It's not legal in all states however.

You can tow like that here in California. I wonder which state's it illegal to do such a thing?
I would recommed a 5er with a strong frame and a good hitch to go along with it. One bad thing is that you can't back up much more than 5 feethttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif Towing a boat isn't that bad for tounge weight, but keep your eye on it.

For the laws I would recomend going to the Dept of Motorvehicles or Dept of Transporation (whoever is in charge of stuff like that down there)
I looked into doing that here in Ontario and found most of it was a money grab. Some stuff done for safety. It was a bigger can of worms than I wanted to get into at the time.

I looked up the State towing laws. All States have different length limits and some States don't allow it.
My State (Iowa) is max. 60 feet. I'd have to have a real short boat.

I do it on occasion and my biggest concern is having a flat tire on the single axle boat trailer (3rd in line). I would not know about it until after the fact !!! kind of scarey huh ? Other than backing up, no problems to date

As a professional Motor Coach driver, I see the odd "train" on the road and wonder ...If you can't see the boat how the heck to you know when to pull back in when passing? I suppose you just don't pass? Guess you have rely on the guy behind to alert you to a problem like a flat.
Max Owner. Where in SW Ont. are you? I'm just outside Woodstock.

Could always wire a camera to the back of your first trailer if you are willing to spend the money.

You could also add the tire monitoring systems that they have now. Personally, I'd do that AND a camera.

How much weight is Tomac pulling in that second trailer?
I am wanting to pull about a 6k total (including trailer) load behind a 5er.
I need to stop feeding my jeepin addiction.....lol
