: Predator Module (not tuner)
Amric 06-11-2004, 08:51 PM Has anyone tried the new Predator module (not tuner). It looks like it hooks up to the boost sensor and modifies the signal to the ECM. I am looking for a cheap boost fooler, and wonder if this might work. Their website give no information on what is is doing to add power. It could very well be sending a signal to the ECM showing MORE boost than what is really being made in an attempt to have the ECM add fuel to match. If this is the case, it's not for me.
I was just hoping someone has the inside scoop on how it works.
White Duramax 06-11-2004, 08:59 PM I believe this is made by Dr. Performance, who doesnt have a very good reputation with anyone that I know of! You should just get a box to stack with your tuner.
Amric 06-11-2004, 09:29 PM I have heard that no module will stack well with the new Quad 215 version 1.20, but I am still considering getting the VA200+, as I really like the dyno curve. It just seems like alot to spend if I can't get any more HP than I'm already making. I wonder how the VA in the high setting would work with the Quad in the 110 setting. Perhaps the 110 does not have the stacking issues of the 215.
GMC-2002-Dmax 06-11-2004, 09:45 PM Amric,
Stack the Quad "New 135HP" tune with a Hot OJ/Attitude Level 5.....
Set Defueling to off and set the low boost fueling to the MAX........
See how the tranny likes that.........http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Has anyone tried this setup before? Any dyno charts, or HP numbers? Sounds interesting. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gifEdited by: Amric

Last Thursday evening (June 10, 2004) the Dr. Performance Mustang Dyno was here and they tested my '03 Duramax with and without there tuning module installed.
In Stock except for 4" exhaust and AFE Stage II intake the truck delivered 226.4 HP and 575.7 Torgue. They indicated that in their previous tests that Completely stock Duramax's usually deliver around 210 HP. It appears that the intake and exhaust account for difference of approximately 16 HP.
After installing there plug in module (50 HP) my HP increased to 267.6 and the torque increased to 656.7. Looks like an increase of 41.2 HP and 81 torque increase.
I am not sure what their unit sells for but if the price is right it might be an inexpensive way for a modest performance increase.
I would have liked to have them run my truck with my Edge/Attitude installed but I didn't ask since it was there show and I felt lucky that they were kind en ough to test my truck at all.
There representative did say that they were very close to having a completely adjustable performance system available soon which would allow adjustments in 20 HP increments up to 120 HP. I was impressed with their representatives and they way that they conducted the tests.
White Duramax 06-12-2004, 11:13 PM Your stock torque number sounds about 100ft lb high.

I am just going by what the printout says from the Mustang Dynamometer.
What is the basis for your response?
Do you have dyno reports on a stock Duramax that you can share?
The "stock" run was with 4" exhaust and AFE Stage 2 intake.

Seen plenty of Stock Dyno runs .....
Mine has always as many dyno'd with a open cell style Air Intake and free flowing exhaust system ....We have ran a before and after tests on a AFE on a dyno ... Produced NAFT ....
You torque numbers are high .....
There are plenty of runs posted on this forum in The Power and Performance section ....

On edit : Just so you don't think I'm flaming you ;
In addition to the dyno sheets here you have to remember 520 is what the general gave us at the flywheel ...
Take in a loss of 18-20% average in torque putting you some where in the 440'ish range at the rear wheels to start .....
So your saying a gain of well over a 100 Feet LBS in Torque on a Air filter and Exhaust when your stock HP is with in the ball park ???

wldfyr 06-15-2004, 01:03 PM Anyone else have dyno numbers or experience on this module? My local dealer is selling this and states it will NOT void the warranty. I was thinking of trying it just to get alittle more out of the duramax. Edited by: wldfyr

I have tried that exact stack and it would not run on my truck. Maybe mine is more fickle than others but I have not been able to stack any of the "new" Quad tunes with any module, Juice or otherwise.
I think my neighbors thought I was even more crazy that day. I probably tried 10 different combos and was in and out of the driveway like a madman..... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

What didn't you like ?? Was it the necessity to only have to move the go peddle a half inch ?? To quirky jerky ??
I'll guaranty those who do try with a stock tranny, can kiss it goodbye ...

Get it in writing notarized and witnessed from the dealer that your warranty will not be voided and they will cover all necessary repairs that GM wont while under warranty if your caught or GM decides to not honor a repair while under the factory warranty....
Let us all know how you make out ...
