How can a Tech tell if a power box like the Edge Juice, duramaximizer, Banks 6 Pack had been installed on a truck, providing the owner removed it before the truck went in for service. Lets assume there is nothing inside like the attitude or the speedloader.
Just curious
Thanks

As I understand it they can't tell for certain, though they can make some guesses.
The EGT probe is fairly obvious and it stays in place when you remove the power box, leaving that wire hanging (for the Attitude implementation). If I were a dealer tech that would give me a pretty good clue that a box was in use, but removed.

Get an EGT guage and hook the probe to the guage when in service. I also though a while back someone said they successfully hooked both the Attitude and a guage to a single probe, and it read correctly.

In my case no attitude and no pyro probe.
One of the techs here said that they could tell if one was in use on a vehicle even if it was removed prior to going into the service bay. I had asked how but got no answer.

not sure if this is correct or not ( might have been trying to scare me ) - the way it was put to me through several sources was that even if everything was taken off that it would still leave some type of footprint regardless of what they all say about leaving nothing behind. Not sure if that is the case, as i have not had anyone say that it is 100% absolutely true or false, they all seem to dance around it ??

Not true of the Edge. It does NOT change anything in the ECM.
it just enhances the program after the fact.

just wondering who gave you that information ? the service writer at local dealer who im in good with pretty much said they can see through diagnostics that something was done, just cant confirm exactly what it was but can make some good guesses based on the those diagnostics - any gm/chevy service guys out there who can enlighten us here ?

so i guess no one knows for sure ? and maybe any rumors are just that, rumors to try to keep people on there toes. its odd though that given all the knowledge on this board that no one has a better answer - i can see some truth to both sides but would like to know just out of my own curiosity

Sure, the Edge box may cause some codes to be set, but they would NOT know for a fact that the Edge caused it. They could only make a guess.

I'm not a GM service guy, but as you mention, they could only make a educated guess as to what caused a problem/code. I would highly doubt they could prove anything if all traces of the power box was physically removed before they checked it out.
