: Running Kerosene for fuel?

What side effects would I encounter if I was to run Kerosene in my fuel tank for say like emergencies? Would I need to add some kind of lubricating oil or something to save the pump?

I've been thinking lately of what all alternate fuel that can be ran in these 6.5's for emergencies. Being mechanical injectors, I'd figure it wouldn't be as picky as the newer electronic injectors. Talking with some of my buddies, they spoke of dumping used engine oil into the fuel tanks (Road tractors with 3406 engines) and using it as something rather than waste. Can that be done with our 6.5's with some descrete to thinning?

For emergency fuel, you'd be better off to carry some diesel, just use it and refill the can periodically.
Kerosene can be added, my owners manual says to when extremely cold. Oil can also be added, but it seems the electric injection pumps don't like very thick fluids.

Kero is fine but add lubricity additive or 2 cycle oil, when I visit our engine test cell I sometimes get "waste Jet A (kero)" and to save them trouble/cost of hazmat disposal I dispose of it for them for free :D , no more than 50/50 with NR2 is what I run
kero doesn't have the lubricity or oomph of #2 so econ may go down some,

I kinda figured it would need some oil of some-sort. I only ask in dire need of fuel. Maybe one day a man might need to get somewhere when there is no to get normal fuel. I know WVO is the next step, but ya know, just brain storming.

Lets just say I use Kero.... how much 2 cycle oil would be needed for a 34gal tank of kero?

check out fluid discussion area, couple members using it post there. used engine oil needs filtered due to metal particles. too dark fuel may effect optic sensor also. diesel engine wil burn just about anything. military multifuel engines will burn lot of stuff, father told me of mixing Everclear with fuel/oil and oils to run duece and a half's in korea. sit back and read.
