started about 800 miles ago after driving down a rough dirt road. the sound is more of a clicking noise and is most notable when im turning. i mean like when going say on a clover leaf freeway on/off ramp, turn the wheel and then hold it at 60-90* left or right. intermediet shaft has been lubed and didnt help anything. i pulled the knee panel off earlier today to take a peek and found 1 of the 4 nuts for the metal cover below the steering column missing, replaced it and made sure the others were tight. noise is still exactly the same. dealer thinks its the spiral spring/slip ring and have ordered a new one that should be here later this week. im doubtful since the noise is there even when holding the wheel steady. lower steering column bearing maybe? possible u-joint in the intermediet shaft?

I get a noise sorta like that, doesn't matter if I am turning. Sounds like a plastic clicking. No idea what it is yet.
75% of my trucks miles have been on dirt road...
