My air compressor stopped working today. I need it for my rear suspension. Does anyone know where the fuse and relay are located, I would like to check them first. When first checking the problem out I found a wire had come off a solenoid. I re-attached the wire now I'm wondering in that had caused the compressor to dead head and blow a fuse. I could not find any information on the fuse location so I checked every fuse I could find in the two panels all seemed ok. Of course there could be a fuse link located some where else. If I can't fix it I'll probably have to go 120 miles to Denver. In the mean time my 5th wheel is stuck in Buena Vista, CO.

I just went to the LINK Site and checked out the Wiring Diagram for their Ultra Ride.
If that is the type Air Ride that you have, they show a 50 Amp Self Resetting Circuit Breaker in the Harness that runs directly to the Battery. This Circuit Breaker is located right at the Battery end of the Harness.
There is also a 2 Amp Fuse in that same vicinity, but that is associated with the DUMP Circuit.

Thanks for the info. I went to the Link system site. I don't think I have their system. Mine does not have any leaf springs. I just an air suspension system.

There is a 50 amp fuse in line between the positive terminal post in the engine compartment and the compressor.I have no rear springs only a air set up by Link .

As an update. This morning I went out and found a valve stem to pressure up the rear air tank. I used my tire inflation compressor and pressured up the tank and air suspension. I pressured up the tank and drained it several times since the core in the valve stem stuck open. I put 100 psi in the tank. Then I called a dealer in Colorado springs and have an appointment Wed. morning. There is a service bulletin to change the wiring harness and relay. Later I started the truck and the air compressor started working. I suspect that the low pressure switch had failed, then started working after being exercised several times. Hopefully they will agree to change the pressure switch along with the wiring harness and relay.

I have a 2005 4500 with air bag seats and exhaust brake but no air suspension. Located on my truck directly below the driver seat and under the truck mounted to the frame is the air pump with wiring harness then incorporates a relay. My pump died and after I inspected it, realized the relay was toasted. Not the typical 5 prong relay, it only has 4 small prongs. I knew a freind who works for GM and he had a relay at home, great! It lasted a few hours and died also. I put the original one back in to keep out water and all of a sudden, the pump came on. Worked normal for a day or so then developed a mind of it's own. If you shut the key off, it kept running until it reached pressure. My neighbor told me for about 12 hours while I was at work, he heard it turn on and off.....all day! It sounded horrible and I jumped under to disconnect the relay. I do not know how the truck didn't catch on fire. Pump was smoking, wires were dripping the coating of a few of them, etc, etc. I had to cut to disconnect because the relay melted to itself. It was ugly! Sorry for the long story, just don't want anyone else to have to go through the same hassle of 3 different times back to the dealer for the same thing. More importantly, it is potentialy a fire hazard. My advice, insist from the dealer that you want a new harness, relay, etc. They are aware of the problem, even though they probably won't admit it. Good luck.....
To make a long story short,

I went to the dealer they replaced the wiring and the relay. However there is still a problem. They are going to replace the low pressure switch as soon as they can get one. Hopefully it will be in this Monday, or Tuesday.

The Dealer replaced the pressure switch on Tuesday, now everything is working OK.

I was praying my 06 c5500 would catch on fire when I was running it. Finally got off of it last week permanently, heck even my foreman was hoping for a fire.

So what are you running now? I am in a 1997 F550 with a Maintainer bed, it's so much better of a truck then what I was running.
