Just ordered a predator tuner and will probably not be getting gauges for awhile so I am wondering how safe it will be to run the predator, or what setting to run it on to ensure that my egts dont get too high. Oh yeah this is on an 01 duramax allison. Thanks

The Perdator is one of, if not hottest programmers for these trucks. Be very careful if you plan on using the 90 or 120 hp settings. Temps can shoot right past 1500* on either 90 or 120 hp.

You should be fine running the 40hp, 60hp, and maybe the next higher one, not sure what it even is on the newer tuners.

Mine is the original version.........with the 40/65/85/100 tunes.

The 85HP tune will push EGT's over 1400 degrees up a hill empty at 3/4 throttle. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif.

Stay under the 85HP tune........with a load especially.

Ive hit 1200* unloaded doing roll ons 30-90. This is in a custom 40 or so HP tune.

Thanks everyone for all the advice, I think i will run it on the lower settings until i get gauges. Also I think i will put a straight pipe on to help cool things down.

Got my predator in the mail yesterday and let me tell you I am impressed. Put it on the 80 hp tune just to see what it was like. It hauls. My buddy has a chipped 7.3 superduty that would always beat me stock, but now he dont have a chance. I love it next on the list is guages. Does anyone have any suggestions on which ones to go with?

Go with EGT & Boost. Those are the most important.

I have Isspro, they are alright, I would go with autometers if I had to do it again. I think Autometers look better and come with a better probe.

I have run all of the tunes on the Predator. 40-120 HP. They are all HOT HOT HOT. I was messing with the tunes since my Juice was out for upgrade. Full throttle on the 40 hp tune, 1400 by 70 mph. On the 85 Hp tune 1400 by 50 MPH. 120 HP tune, 1600 by 60 MPH. I won't run mine again now that the Juice and Attitude are back in. Max I see on the Juice now with the 125 HP tune to 90 MPH has been 1300. Get a pyromter if nothing else before you run ANY tune on the Predator.
