I just bought a 2002 2500hd 4x4 and the garage where i picked it up at said the engies in locked up. I talked to one of the mechanics he said that the engine would turn just about all around with a socket on the crank then stop. That is all i know about it. I was thinking if one of the injectiors went bad and poured fuel in the cylinder and locked it that way. I havent got to talk to the person who drove this truck. I bought this truck from a big coal company here. I going to check it out later this week. Has anyone had this happen to their duramax?

any metallic clink or anything when it "stops"?? Or does it just suddenly get hard to turn?? Pull the glow plugs and try to turn it...

when my injectors went bad and filled the crankcase with fluid, my truck was towed with the nose down for about 50 miles. it was enough to fill a cylinder with fuel/oil mixture and it acted hydrolocked. it sat for a couple of days and leaked out. hope it's that simple for ya
