Hello. I'm in the process of buying an old (read fullsize) GMC Jimmy with a 6.2L "C" motor in it from the dealership that I work for. It was used for a snowplow for about 12 years and it only has 66002 original miles on the clock (odometer). Apparently it was traded in around 1992 on a new vehicle. The reason that I'm buying it is because the tranny was blown up this winter by one of the lot idiots and I have a used one on the side waiting to install it on a weekend. It starts and runs OK. After warming up it smokes just a little bit of blue-white (maybe more blue than white) out of the right side exhaust continuously. Because I don't have the tranny installed I obviously can't drive it to see if it's just loaded up with deposits and quits smoking after awhile. Besides the smoking is there anything else that I need to check out on this vehicle? I bought it for $500 with the snowplow attached. I've owned a couple of VW Rabbits diesels in the early to mid 90's and I've been doing domestic parts sales for GM, Ford, and Chrysler for 16 years and I don't recall hearing much on the 6.2's during the first few years in parts except that it's a gas engine converted to run on diesel (WRONG, that was the Olds 5.7L engine). Does anyone have any suggestions? I really would appreciate it. Thanks.
