I am not sure but I think the fuel solenoid screws into the IP. Is there a special socket to remove the F/S? And if so, where would I buy such a tool?
Thanks,

You're right...the PMD has 4 screws that hold it to the IP...there's not a special tool on the market (not really required) The easiest way to remove the PMD is to remove the intake manifold, and then all you need is the right sized torx bit. Using a gear wrench and the right sized torx bit, you may be able to get to all of the screws without removing the intake, but it's pretty tight...it has been done before, so don't lose hope.

I chose to leave my original PMD in place, and just disconnect the wiring harness, plug it into an extension, and remote mount it. If you are replacing it, it's definately the way to go...putting a new one back on the pump will have you changing it before too long...the high heat in the original location is what toasts them...

I think Hr meant the fuel cut-off solenoid on the top of the IP?

R u in the right thread, jt83?????????????

It's a standard allen key in the old-style, and a standard socket on the later.

If it's the allen style, just grab it with a pair of channel locks or vise grips, as that model is worthless, anyway - it will leak if re-used.

Standard cw threads on either.

Actually, I mean the Fuel Solenoid at the back of the IP. The solenoid that the PMD drives. Thanks,

Right - the top one is the FSO - Fuel Shut Off solenoid.

Will the real Fuel Solenoid please stand up?

That is just another smaller allen key - remove the screw and lock plate, after marking the FS housing, and count the number of turns till it falls out, so you can put it back to that calibrated position.

Should be a only few notches either way from there to get back to go.

Yep, that sounds right, but I tried 2 IP's and I can not get the F/S to budge. Maybe because they have been in a long time. I even removed the fittings the fuel lines connect to, to get a better grip, but no luck. What kind of tool would anyone suggest?

Put the FS flats in a vise, but don't tighten the jaws excessively - use it like a large adjustable wrench.

Unscrew the DS4 body from the FS assy - much easier, eh?

Ok, I can try that. Thanks,
