: New LBZ question
I am wondering how well should the new LBZ performs from a dead stop? I test drove one this week because I will be purchasing in the next 30 days. I nailed it from a stand still and it would not break the tires loose. Is this normal or should I find one that will light them up. It was a 2500hd cc 4x4. I hear some say theirs will smoke the tires thru 1st gear no boost launches. Was this one a dog or are they all like that stock with 50 miles on the odometer? Thanks!
Flyntodd 09-08-2006, 11:56 PM should start lighting em' up when it hits second...
:ro)
Question?? Is that all your looking for in a new diesel truck?

I drove a black GMC 2500 HD Sierra LBZ about 1 month ago. It was also a 4X4 like the one you test drove and it only had a fresh 15 miles on the odometer.
That truck spun the tires every time I got on it. Even when I was driving at like 15-20 MPH and I got on it, It STILL spun the tires.
The truck even fish tailed a few times which was awesome!!!
GM Duramax trucks have incredible power.
:cool2:
I am looking for a sleeper vehicle and looks like a diesel is the only way to go. I'm tired of spending money on slow gas trucks. I do like to get on it so to say.I am planning on spending some money making it go fast.
GMCJOE did you drive any others for comparision performance wise? And if so did they all run that good?
wackoTX 09-09-2006, 12:28 AM thats why i only buy a truck with no more than 4-6 miles on it
I always break a vehicle in by running through the gears one good time at the beginning and then it's all stop and go city driving for the next 500 miles under 50mph.
Puffer 09-09-2006, 07:08 AM Mine would spin the tires all to easy , only now at 600 miles can I start off without spinning.
olbrenner 09-09-2006, 07:57 AM I always break a vehicle in by running through the gears one good time at the beginning and then it's all stop and go city driving for the next 500 miles under 50mph.Really? This could explain what made the gas trucks slow ;).
All gas trucks are slow in comparison to the diesel trucks and all my performance vehicles I had ran very good. My 88 GT Mustang ran 8.84 in the 1/8 with only a thermostat, K&N air filter, Flowmaster muffler and homemade ram air. My 93 Transam with the LT1 ran 13.22 in the 1/4 with only a K&N air filter, thermostat, short belt and homemade ram air. My 2005 Avalanche ran 15.87 with K&N air filter,Jesse Bubb tune, thermostat and homemade ram air. I believe if you look at these vehicles stock times you will see for the small amount of money invested they ran very well in comparison to others in ther class.
BigBadAllis 09-09-2006, 10:32 AM I test drove 2 before buying. Both and the one I bought will burn out 1-3 gear. Don't know why the one you drove won't do it. On the test drive cruising at 30-35 mph floored it and broke it loose too.
BigBadAllis 09-09-2006, 10:33 AM Test drove 2 before buying. They will light them up 1st - 3rd. Cruising at 30-35 floor it and will break loose too. Don't know why the one you drove isn't doing that.
BigBadAllis 09-09-2006, 10:34 AM Nice! Thought my 1st post didn't work. so now you get 3
JoshH 09-09-2006, 11:18 AM Maybe the streets you guys drive on are really crappy. My truck with the Juice turned up to level 6 won't light'em up from a stop, much less while going 30-35 mph.
INSman 09-09-2006, 11:34 AM I haven't tried yet with my new stock truck, but I had trouble doing it with the Edge on level 5 on 35's

I can't light mine up from a stop if I just wood the throttle. It will scrub a little and chirp 2nd, but no smoky take off.
If it was raining when you guys claim you can break them loose at 35+ that doesn't count.

:exactly: :funnypost
redneckbuckeye 09-09-2006, 12:44 PM My truck will not break the tires loose without a boosted launch
Sounds like I need to keep looking and driving some more. I plan to add power adders after I purchase the truck but I don't want to start with a slow one at first . A 3 to 4 tenths stock faster truck will end up being a 3 to 4 tenghts faster truck with the same power adder in the end. I take my rodding serious and want to start with the best right from the bat. Looking foward to getting a diesel to replace my gas truck first week of October. Sounds like you need to be careful in the rain or here I come ditch! My little boy always says "go faster daddy" in my current truck. I hope the new truck phrase will be "go slower daddy".
BigBadAllis 09-09-2006, 01:53 PM Mine spins it on good asphalt or concrete. Sounds like your power booster equipment doesn't help much from a stop. I try not to punch on the throttle to hard from a stop, but sometimes just have to do it. Sounds like there are a bunch of variations that can't be explained on these trucks. Same chassis engine gets different results. What gives? Fuel economy varying from 12 unloaded to more than 25? Spinning wheels? All I know is I'm happy with the 18-19 MPG and the towing and hauling capacity.
dozerboy 09-09-2006, 03:48 PM This has been discussed several times just because a truck won't smoke the tires from a dead stop doesn't mean anything.
Dual Tandem 09-09-2006, 08:58 PM I always thought if the tires were spinning then you were losing ground if racing is your thing. Oh and by the way mine won't break 'em loose with my trailer hooked up. :funnypost
dmproske 09-09-2006, 11:49 PM I believe mine would break the rears loose if I punched it, but I didn't try it when it was brand spankin new:eek: . Didn't want to be that hard on a fresh engine or rear end. Now that it has some miles on it I have added quite a bit of weight with my tool chest and leer top; which keeps them from spinning from a no boost start. Does firmly put me back in the seat though:)
Lambcooker 09-10-2006, 12:24 AM if the trans wasn't learned to your pedal smashing then they won't spinny, but if you got in one that some lot guys or detail guys, salesman or whoever jump in it and beat on it alittle then yes... get your LBZ soon, because they have new LMM coming out and boy is there some poo on it for Emissions!!!!
