Hello, My question is regarding the 3-4upshift. My hits pretty hard even at part throttle I'm running an 01 os and wanted to know if playing with the tap values could help this issue. If I drop the tap pressure will is soften the shift, or will it slip the clutch more and cause failure?

You can fix it about ~85% with the 3-4 TAP presets in the TCM tune.
The rest of it is in the actual ECM tune itself ;)

can you elaborate on the 3-4 tap presets? which direction should I take em? And can I really hurt anything by dropping the tap pressure?
also can I lock the taps so they stop learning bad habits?

you can disable the "adaptive learning" but I really dont reccomend it. The trans adjusts the TAPS for varied driving. It needs to be able to compensate for various throttle positions, speeds, and torque. I backed off the 3-4 TAP presets/fill rates ~5%
With the proper ECM tune, TAP presets, the learning is good and it will automatically dial itself in correctly to something thats smooth around town AND something that shifts nice at WOT.

ok i'll give that a shot. Out of curiousity where are the controls for the adaptive learning?

in the "general" section, you can see "adaptive learning enable/disable"

Do you play with shift timing at all? I've heard that's a no no.

Problem is it can smoke stuff in a hurry or instantly if you screw up. Thats why its recomended to leave it the heck alone. You could possibly waste hard parts if you screw up. Clutch packs coming on to soon or not releasing fast enough = bind and bad juju. Small changes ;) And when you break something you went to far ):h

Just adjust the clutch volume fills.

Jesse, there is another way to fix that that wont require changing the Cal. I'll catch up with you in chat and we can discuss.

i gave it a whirl and decreased the tap by ~5% on the 3-4 preset and it gets through the shift quicker, and smoother. I can still feel it, but it's a lot better. I might have to work on the 1-2 upshift now.
