: Question on the Edge and gauges

I have a question that is probably really stupid. I'm throwing around buying the Juice w/Attitude and a new overhead console with the mounting ability for the Edge moniter.

Since the moniter already reads EGT's and Boost does a guy need to also install a second set of gauges (egt and boost) in the A-pillar. I don't understand why you would need double gauges. It seems people are doing though. Little help would be great.......

Also, it seems like in some recent readings here. The edges claims of detecting tranny slipping may not be so true?? Levels 4 & 5 used routenly may cuase some problems....Has anyone had problems show up?

I pull a 8K 5th wheel and just wonder what it would be like with the edge. But all the reading on EGT temps has me nervous as heck. The factory dash has nothing to see the EGT temp so should a guy even worry with stock?

Thanks;

While searching for chip manufacturer. I had the option of guages on pillar , guages on the steering column. or attitude on the overhead console.

The choice for me was juice with attitude in the overhead console.

When you have the ability to observe 13 different paramaters on engine and tranny functions, the ability of the attitude to control the power output for tranny safety and turbo safety, all in a good looking overhead console, at a reasonable price. You cant lose.

Look at the price of individual guages ie egr 200.00, boost 60.00,etc

Then look at prices on available pillar mounts etc.

Only trouble is you have to have the edge juice to hook it up.

will post pics of entire install as soon as overhead console plate gets here.

Don`t know about the Edge, but don`t buy the Predator and expect to use the tow mode or the egt`s will go too high real quick. Running stock and not exceedind your towing capacity, I wouldn`t worry about Egt`s or boost. I have pillar mounted gages and pull a 10,500 5er and very seldom does the egt`s reach 1250 running stock.

Warden,

Gauges are a good idea but with the ATTITUDE probably not really necessary.

If you are worrying about the EDGE Juice, don't.......

I would stay with the standard Edge and not the HOT version as you have the option of the 120 hp tune in level 5.

Tow in level 1 or 2 and set the EGT Back down at whatever temp you desire to feel safe with.

The EDGE will keep your tranny fine and your EGT's in check.

The issues that you may have read about are due to running the higher levels and probably caused by racing.

Also as MIKE L has stated the ALLISON will adapt it just needs a little time, that's all.

I ran a v4.61 HOT 120HP for over a year without issue....when I started stacking big tunes and pushing the tranny beyond safe limits is how I damaged mine like others have.

So don't worry, purchase one and enjoy it.

IF you arnt fooling with the turbo then the edges boost reading is fine. Actually if you arnt fooling with the turbo or worried about what psi you are launching at boost is just cool to look at. Also remember the attitude will top out its boost measurment. It does this because if it reads anymore or lets the fact computer see anymore it will throw a code.

I find it real hard to get my EGT's dangerous high with my juice set to 90hp unloaded. I also wouldnt go over 90hp unloaded with the stock alli unless you dont mind upgrading. Its fine in all levels besideds 5th yes the juice will start backing down the 125 hp level in 5th but it still aint good on things IMO.

The juice attitude is a realy good deal and very safe if used with a smart head IMO for moderate powerlevels.

There is a group buy in progress for the juice/attitude, if interested PM me or see the Group buy thread.
