I just made a 300 mile round trip, and on the way home I noticed the turbo whine was louder. I don't mind it, actually like it, but when new I could hardly ever get any whine out of it. It is now up to 3500 miles, and the turbo just magically gets louder.
Is there anything to be concerned about? Anything to look at?

if it is an LLY the turbo is much louder than the LB7 motors. most consider it a good thing. on the road trip you probably noticed it more than short trips.

It is a eairly 2004 LB7. It didn't happen on the 600 mile round trip I made three weeks ago.
I was just wondering.

I've noticed mine changes quite a bit with temperature changes and humidity. Just a thought... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Is there anything you can do to make whistle louder. I heard a new ford the other day and the turbo was twice as loud as mine. I have swiss cheesed the air box and removed th intake resonator. Anything else?

Install an AFE intake system....
