oil change reset

hello,
i am trying to reset my oil life reset on my 03 GMC LB7 SLE. It says you have to push the gas petal down 3 times in 5 sec. to reset it with the key turned on, but it will not work, does anyone know how to reset the oil life sensor??

Mine takes pressing the go pedal 5 times to clear, but every truck is different, so if 3 does not work, try 5.

On my 2002, I turn the key on, press 3 times in 5 seconds, then wait. The oil light will flash. Then I turn the key off.

Homer Simpson used an old band-aid to cover his light......wait, that was a check engine light, that mod will not work for this light, nevermind..........

hi Guys,
thanks for the reply's, after i did actually change the oil it did reset the 1st time as was described in the manual, i was surprised that the sensor was able to tell the oil was still used!! I had the understanding it was monitored by your driving patterns, not by an actually sensor, but i must have been wrong. Have a good week everyone.
Mike

It all depends with mine. If the change oil light comes on before I change my oil and try to reset it, it usually takes 10-15 times to get it reset. If I reset it before the light comes on, it works the first time every time...

It will reset with old oil or new. It does not know the difference, and there is no magic sensor that can tell the difference either.
