Yesterday I started my truck and the drivers side seat heat was on full blast - took about 2 minutes for me to realize it. I figured I just accidentally bumped it when shutting the door. It was the back portion only that was activated so I tried pushing the back only button to turn it off and it wouldn't do anything. The back and bottom button worked fine and turned the heat off. Then a few minutes later the heater went on full blast by itself again. Since then I tried shutting off and then starting the truck, sometimes the heater would be on sometimes it wouldn't. Sometimes the back only button works and sometimes it doesn't. Anyone seen anything like this before - could it be moisture on the switch? It rained pretty hard here on xmas.
I had the same problem with my '03 Z-71. The seat back heater would turn on on its own. Mine did it after the truck set in the rain. I could turn it off but it would come back on in a few seconds sometimes it would turn off and stay off other times not. I never figured it out either. I thought the switch in the door was getting wet but was told by a GM tech on another form that probably wasn't the problem. There is a control module under the seat that can be unpluged that will keep it from turning on. Don't remember which one though. I traded the truck in before I got it fixed. I would take the door panel off and look at the connector for the seat switch. I think those and the window/locks/mirror panel are all tied together. Sorry i couldn't be more help.
It just seems too much like moisture causing the one switch to short out. If it doesn't stop acting up today I'll pull the door panel and inspect it. Do you remember if it started happening right after a big rain?
Mine did the same thing after it rained a few days ago. It would even cycle through the levels on its own. It did this about a dozen times driving to town and back. It works fine now . Hopefully yours goes away also. A real pane. Them things get hot
It seems to be getting better (drying out?), sometimes now it works properly - letting me cycle it on and off, but every once in awhile it kicks on again by itself.

Yes it started after it rained. Got better as it dried out.

Mine would cycle through the levels too. In the summer it was a pain in the *** ...Sorry couldn't help myself. Seriously I thought about pulling the door panel and sealing up the switch assy but I couldn't get the door apart.
I took the panel off and opened the switch and there was no moisture. Of course it worked perfectly when it was apart, but after I had everything back together it acted up again. If it keeps doing this I may have to break down and take it to the dealer - it is starting to look more and more like a bad switch module.
