New Duramax Hood vents -Black or Chrome

So I have the new body style 2500. Ive seen a couple of trucks with the plastic hood vents on the hood in chrome. Well ive been searching like crazy for them and have had NO luck. I was told today that all one needs to do is rub off the black with nail polish remover and underneath is chrome looking plastic. Is this true or BS?

I could be wrong but I believe they are metal, not plastic, hence the "chrome" color.

Good luck.

That is not true. The black ones are black...period. You can purchase the chrome ones from the chevy dealer, but there pricy. I think there about $300.00 a pair

Stick with the black ones better imo. the local dealer puts them on their trucks, and the chrome ones don't sit right.

I added the chrome covers and they fit just perfectly. I like the look but they tend to reflect the sun directly into your eyes. Painting to match the truck is a great idea.
