I think I might have GM remove the old, pay me $100 and buy this for $70 as a replacement. Wonder why GM doesn't offer this as a replacement? Could have saved them $$ by the time they pay the customer $100 and the dealership for service time. Stupid... Chris

It sure does make you wonder doesn't it. Seems like a simple solution.

Just looked at it.Located behind fusebox on driver side on against firewall.Appears to have two wiper hoses in/out,a socket for power and two nuts then it looks like it will come right out?I haven't done mine yet but it doesn't appear to be that bad?Maybe someone else has more info then I do.

Good find, jim87vette.

I find this bit interesting. Would be nice to know which 77,000 vehicles got these "3rd generation" units.

Looks like a great deal of speculation over there on that Cadillac forum, but I might make the leap and spend the $70 on one of these just to check it out. If it is a plug-n-play deal then seems like the $100 from GM would offset the cost. Convenient. There's a conspiracy theory in here somewhere...

Really! This has me so pissed at GM. Maybe it is just me but the underlying message from GM here is that they dont care to fix the problem that consumers have. I understand that no vehicle is perfect and eventually parts fail and I am fine with that. But when you put something on the market for nearly $50,000 and I commit to buying it I want to know that the manufacture is going to fix things like this not just give up. As we can all see here there is a solution they just dont care enough about there consumer to try and fix it and rise another problem in the future. This is just like the tranny line that has been replaced 3 times in 94,000 miles on my truck. Odviously there is a problem with that line go back to the drawing board. I dont even mind buying the next one as long as I know it will last as long as it should.
