Steering wheel controls.

when my truck came from factory it did not have steering wheel controls, bought a wheel with the controls in it, now from my understanding you do not have to mess with the clock spring to replace the wheel... also the wire harness for steering wheel controls is in there, correct? also i probably have to get a dealer with a tech 2 to activate the controls, correct? thanks in advance.

The clockspring has to be messed with 'cuz your truck will have the wrong one in it. Actually, it has to be replaced.

So I would order the clockspring for the steering wheel control setup? and also just to be sure, is the wire harness there for the controls? Thanks in advance.

You need the clockspring out of the other column because that is what has the connector on it that you need for the steering wheel controls. I managed to pick up an entire column for $200 so I'm going to swap out the column and then rekey my doors because its simpler and cheaper than trying to pull the ignition switch out of a column thats already together. After that, you'll probably have to take it in for a reflash as well.

There is a link for it on the GM full size forum, and if I was at home I'd give it to you. Try and Google it and see what you come up with, I know its out there I just don't have it on hand.
