They can not stop anyone from developing any product (and selling) that supports the outboard ends of the idler/pitman arms provided you don't copy the way they actually do it. You can do it either by a double sided idler/pitman arm or a bracket that supports it. DOESN'T MATTER.

I have just had the same argument with a guy regarding the what an axle stand is.

How soon. Mid March, tentatively. I'll be joining the ranks of the DP site sponsors, probably this week. Once that is done, while I wait on the first shipment to arrive, I'll be working on the website to allow for pre-ordering (no cards charged until parts ship).

Price. $275.00.

Thought you guys might like this little tidbit...

Top image is stock idler arm under 800 lbs of stress.

Bottom image is my design, under 1,000 lbs of stress.

The engineering firm has recommended that I increase the small end by 0.200" in diameter to get rid of the hint of yellow around the hole that mounts the arm to the idler pivot. This change has already been incorporated into production. The firm has also indicated that this change will increase the parts loading capabilities by 150 additional pounds before it starts to look like the above photo again.

So, what we have, per the engineering firm, is a 25% increase in strength over stock, and a whopping 270% increase in stiffness. The stiffness increase will directly affect product life via fatigue.

Add to this the fact that the bearings are capable of 1770 lbs of static pressure, and 1150 lbs of thrust pressure, and we indeed have, The Ultimate Idler Arm.

pictures like that do help to show areas of stress and shows it's not a half baked idea

Being that I know how much engineering places charge (they all have minimum amounts afaik) I can really appreciate the dollars you have put into this. If they did not have a minimum PM me with details

BTW I will absolutely buy one or three off of you. Trucks at work could use this
