2500HD lEAF SPRINGS

I just bought a 2008 GMC 2500hd Duramax and could not tell that the rear leaf springs are shot until after it was already purchased for a couple of weeks or until I hooked up my trailer. So my question is do I get them rearched or do I replace them with new springs? Does anyone know of a good spring place near me in Savannah, Ga? It really is hard to tell when the truck is empty that they are bad, but they definitely sag almost flat.

Thanks

Find it hard to believe that a set of springs that new are shot. Did the previoius owner remove the overload leaf to improve ride? That is more likely IMO. If so you may think about leaving them that way and adding air bags.

info

It has all the correct leafs. It was owned by a commercial business hauling a gooseneck trailer that apparently overloaded them. Even when I just load the bed with stuff it sags almost in an opposite arch. I hooked up my friends 2008 2500hd to my trailer it only sags about an inch. Thanks fo your help.

Personally, I'd look at replacing them. If they are fatigued enough to go into a negative arch, re-arching, IMHO, would be a waste of your money.

What do the 4 clamps are the leaf springs do? There are 2 on each leaf spring.

Those clamps just keep the leafs lined up so you dont get the ends of the shorter ones sticking out from the pack. I don't think that is the problem here.

I agree with Aprilwine, don't waste your money having them re-arched. I would think you could find a set of stockers in good used condition what with everyone putting on big lifts around here.
