Gear oil makes for a great choice for t-cases that are gear-to-gear.
Our trucks (using the NV261/263) are chain driven. They will not prefer the gear oil.
Stick with ATF. If you want something "better", then use synthetic ATF.

I used to use dino oil because I didn't know any better.
Then, I used synthetics because I thought they were "best".
Now, I use dino, because I know the truth!
