Wix Filters vs AMSOIL EA Oil Filter

Just started using AMSOIL 15W-40 in my truck. I have always used Wix filters in the past and have had no problems but I also hear good things about the AMSOIL filter. Just wondering if anyone one has any input for me?

No they don't make the Amsoil filter. Wix is partnered with Amsoil so most all Wix filters are available on the wholesale Preferred Customer Program through Amsoil.

Amsoil will only offer the 25k mile guarantee with a wix filter if you change the Wix filter at the OEM recommended oil change interval. So if your OEM recommended OCI is 7500 then you must change the Wix filter at 7500 miles to stay withing warranty with the Amsoil Synthetics. You must also meet the criteria for normal use to go 25k miles with the warranty that Amsoil offers. If you don't meet normal use you would fall into severe duty which is a 15k mile guarantee for OCI.

The Wix 57202 oil filter is 21 microns nominal which is about 40 microns absolute.

If you go with the Amsoil EAO52 filter which is full synthetic and filters to 3 microns nominal/15 microns absolute and gives you a 25k mile guarantee I think your doing your engine a favor based on micron ratings alone.

What is the difference in micron ratings? Micron ratings article which is a sticky in the top of this forum.

P.S. The Amsoil oil filter is made to proprietary specifications by Donaldson.

I run the amsoil filters in 3 vehicles and plan to keep it that way.

Hey dirtbike, i was just giving the info that was given to me by another amsoil rep. Looks like I was feed some misinformed information. I use it in my truck and in my wifes suburban and said that they did not have a oil filter for the 5.3 and had to use a wix to still be covered under warranty for the 25k oil but change the filter at 12k.

Sometimes happens. DBD is right on the source. He might be able to correct my figure on this but I think the amsoil filter only covers 50-60% of the auto market. That's why they carry other lines like WIX and MANN to cover them all. What year are they? I see a filter for the 01 and 06, just spot checking a few. 12k may be stretching it on the WIX, it's recommended at the OEM interval.

They may not have a filter for the 5.3 depending on her year but its misinformation or misconstrued information that you can go 25k miles on a Wix oil filter with Amsoil oil and still be under the warranty from Amsoil on the oil. You must use an EAO full synthetic filter to go up to 25k miles without changing the filter. Anything else must be changed at the OEM recommended oil change interval to be within guidlines for the warranty from Amsoil on the oil for 25k miles.

It may be more than 50% of the auto/light truck market but it is a fact that Amsoil EAO filters do not cover the entire market. Heath did explain a big reason why we partner with Wix & Mann filters and we also partner with Donaldson filters as well.
