Where to buy lye

What kind of stores or where are you getting your lye from? I was buying mine at Lowes, but they are no longer carrying the product and had it on clearance. I went to all the stores near me and they were all out and not reordering it. None of the local hardware stores carry 100% lye. With out ordering on the internet, where are you getting your lye? Farm supply store? Any information is welcome.

The Lowes by me still has a bunch of it. I bought 8 bottles about one month ago. Is this a company wide policy or just an individual store policy?

Try some chemical companies around town. Most of them should be able to order sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide.

Thanks jj. I have no problem picking it up in clackamas. I live just off 205 in Vancouver.

As for Lowes it is a company wide thing. What I found out is that Roebec increased their price by 300% and Lowes didn't move much of the product so they will no longer be carrying it.

I ordered a 50 pound bucket from Utah BioDiesel. Even with shipping it was still dramatically cheaper than buying from Lowes. And the buckets are really nice

$90 shipped?
Seems like a good price. I paid a little more for the bucket but it's resealable to keep it from sucking up water.
