sold my monroe bed installed 2012 dually bed Large Gap!

well i sold my original monroe bed to upgrade to a newer style bed .. well i kept my monroe bed bracket that it came with. the 2012 dually bed actually just bolts right up nothing different . but now i have about a 6 inch gap between the truck and the bed and i think it looks awful ... so from my investigation theres only 2 ways to solve my issue .
pics coming very soon the its raining cats and dogs rights now

1. cut the trucks chassis and shorten the drive shaft and re weld it??
this i am not to happy about doing because i do have a 48 enclosed i would love to drag around with out thinking if i changed the strength of the chassis

2. have a metal fabricator cut and add metal and lengthen the bed .
this seems very pricey. (body work/prep/paint/)

any other suggestions? or what did you do to cover the gap?

** there was a red truck for sale a while back with a new style bed and it looked to have something bolted up that was made to close the gap real nice truck i believe it also had red interior trim someone on the board bought the truck and put up pics

As soon as you get pics up we might be able to come up with some help! Sounds like an interesting problem...

I mounted the box a couple inches forward to close the gap some. The ldt box is for a 54" CA, the short C4500 is 60". None of the ldt boxes match the 4500 body contour so a little added mismatch in gap between cab/box or wheel well centering is no big deal for me. I also mounted my box lower than the cab to keep the 5th wheel hitch lower. Overall you really need to know these trucks well to notice anything at all.

I was wondering how you guys putting little truck beds on 4500s were going to solve the gap problem. I know for a fact the steel inner bed is standard size but the composite sides are longer to make up for the longer length. I installed my 5" stacks between the bed and cab. Not as they do with little trucks coming up inside the bed.
Im curious too on how you solve this.
