Help CODES & problem with edge evolution in c4500

I bought the Edge CTS programer last week. Installed it and set it on level 2 for towing. The gauges and everything worked fine. Left on trip next day and the gauges quit and said it could not communicate with truck.
I called edge and they said it had to be something with my alarm or stereo. I have a Viper alarm with remote start and a Jensen navigation dvd player (which sucks and is broken).
Has anyone had any issues like this?
My truck is a 2005 c4500 dmax LLY with 83,000 miles (3,000 sinch I bought it)
It has also started having codes
P2563, P0046, P0381, P0463, P1093.

I dont have Edge ,I got PPE but I know instructions said to turn everything off before installing tune. It said could cause problems installing. I would try returning to stock tune than reinstall
Good Luck

p1093 means your running out of rail pressure and coding . Should have gone into a limp mode with this code . ?? did it ?? Also means its a pretty decent tune to throw this code also . My truck before shimming prv would only do this code level 4 and above . Need to shim prv valve ( pressure relief valve ) in fuel rail log driverside . Its a plug in back of rail . Also try changing fuel filter if it hasnt been since you bought it . This is just for p1093 .

Not sure on the problems with the rest of the codes ... would need to look them up .

Issues with the edge ..... Edge was known many years back for some glitches ... trucks were just shutting off and doing weird stuff . If I recall they were actually having issues with the circuit boards inside the controller . Not sure if this is the issue though . Alarms can play a role with tuning when they are tapped into your wiring for plug under dash . Installers sometimes tap into wires in the harness for the communication plug under your dash you use for tuning for alarms and they shouldnt . Screws with communication . Check under there and see if they have tapped into any of these wires . Brake controllers or anything grabbing power on this plug will cause interference with communication tuning . This has been something common I have seen at PPE when guys have issues tuning . Stuff tapped into this part of the harness for the communication plug under dash . Check this first before thinking its the edge tuner .

I have not started the truck in 2 days so i go out this morning start it and the edge programmer works with gauges and everything just like it is supposed to. Turned truck off and no communication since. Disconnected batteries and reconnected with no change.

Checked all the wires from the plug as far as i could (have the dash completely apart). Did not find anything spliced into them. I disconnected the stereo and alarm wires from them and it still would not communicate.
The only place they spliced into the wires was under the steering column. The edge support people also said it probably some aftermarket electronics causing the issue.

No communication's? Could you have a blown fuse to the OBDII plug? It's the same fuse as power plugs on dash and console.

I checked that also. It is intermittent on when it will communicate. I am thinking of putting it back to stock next time it will communicate and return the programmer while I can (30 day money back). I would like to use a programmer, but do not know if any other ones will work any better, or how to resolve the issue.
Thanks for your help and suggestions. Keep them coming.

I always had really good luck with PPE hand held tuners . Never had any issues .

Try calling Dan Grant @ PPE and see if he has any insight on the issue your having with the edge .

The edge technician said it had be be an aftermarket accessory interfere with the communications.
I spent all weekend tracing wires from the obd2 port and found nothing spliced into it.
Then it started working 60-70% of the time. Yesterday in a 6 mile trip it turned off and on about 10 times, so I just called edge and told them I am sending it back and all of a sudden the tech said there was a new update available today. So I will try their update and if it does not work then I will return it and maybe try another programmer. Sounds like PPE is the most popular for our trucks.

I had the older edge/***, after three went bad they told me they never tested them on the 4500's. I always had maf sensor and boost codes with the edge! Then I got a ppe standard, It ran great no codes or problems, level 2, it is the best hand held tuner for our trucks. Now i went one step further and got a spare ecm and had Idaho Rob at Adrenaline Truck Performance 208-484-3670 do a tow tune with efi live and all I can say is WOW!!!!!
