I put together my own kit also. Made my own shackle mount for the receiver out of SOLID 2"x2" stock. I also have an array of nylon straps in a few lengths.

I have a 30,000lb 3" nylon strap with loops on each end from 4wheel parts for around $40 I think. It recently came in handy when the farmer that rents our crop land got his grain cart and new tractor stuck. I was almost certain it would snap. Too bad I didnt get a video of that thing stretching.

I have an old kinetic style rope Ive used for years. In the market for another one since I borrowed mine to a friend and he returned it with a knot in the middle . Works fine but bothers the sh1t out of me looking at that knot.

Kinetic ropes stretch like a rubber band and have very little shock when they stop stretching. Easy on both vehicles. Even leaving 3-5' of slack and hitting it wont empty the seats on the floor when it gets tight. Worth every penny IMO.

This my rope that I use... It's a masterpull super yanker! Thing works wonders, no stress or bang when someone or yourself is pulling out the vehicle just a smooth pull.. Check out my video pulling out this hummer and toy hauler at pismo beach ca.

If that link don't work it's on YouTube. Just type in lbzdmax68 and my videos are there.

Smooth Move. I was amazed at how easily you pulled that truck out of the sand!

I got a strap manufacturer 10 miles away. They can supply me almost anything to do with ratchet or recovery straps.

I got one of their winch buddy straps and it's brillant.

I also got some 40k straps for recovery CHEAP

http://www.slingsandstraps.co.uk/

They actually made me up some one off ladder straps for my dolly when i fetched my 48 from the docks

Great pull! That sure was a lot of slack you left in it, but I guess the rope did it's job and kept you from ripping the tow hook right off the Hummer. One thing, the dude walking around as you start the tow is standing in just about the worst place ever. If something let loose on one of the vehicles or the rope broke he very well could be in for a bad bad day.

Anyway, like I said great work. I've been stuck in Pismo plenty of times, and pulled people out plenty of times. It's always an adventure just getting in/out there.
