Brake Rotor Rust question

I've got some flaking rust in the middle of rotor (vent holes). I'm going to take them off this weekend and want to clean them real good and have them resurfaced. I've also got a little "grabbing" going on and the pad face looks real shiny and slick. I figured I'd try to machine them, lightly buff the pads with scotchbrite and see if that fixes the grabby vibration. The GM pads look like they have 75% life left at least. And the rotors look thick. There is very little depth wear from the pads. Almost can't feel anything when I run my fingernail across the pad face area. So I assume I can machine them once.

I have access to a bead blast cabinet. Would this work to remove the rust in the vent holes? I don't want to mess up the pad face accidentally and etch it. Would naval jelly work better to remove this rust. Some of it looks a little heavy and I can flake it off with a screw driver. But I don't think they look "rotted out" and ruined from rust.

I see no reason to remove the scale within the vent holes, other than aesthetics.

Clean the fit of the pads and relube the slides while you're in there (Post #7) another soft brake thread

If you did take the time to remove any scale, it would return shortly.

If I could get them very clean down to bare metal...I could spray some 1300F paint on them while they spun slowly on the machine. That might slow it down. Then machine the faces afterward. Napa's premium brake rotors come painted like this new. 25K miles on the ones I installed on the TrailBlazer LTZ are still looking new. But I don't know what kind of coating they use. Just a thought. I just didn't want the rust to keep eating away more metal. And I try to keep the underside of my truck looking good. I'm too particular I guess.
