4L80E vs Allison, Can Mine be built as tough?

I have a quick question, i was thinking of swapping in a nv4500 into my truck, a ZF6 would be intriguing as well but mainly my question is this i have the 4l80e, aftermarket wise can it be built as well and bulletproof as an allison 1000? My Automatic idea was to get a built up 4l80e or swap an allison in or lastly i saw a 6 speed 4l80e on TCI website, any verdict on that

The 4l80 can be built to handle any power your 6.5 with make easy enough.

I think you might be pleasantly surprised at how much a built 4L80E can handle. My 4L80E is mounted behind my Pontiac that makes 600 ft-lb of torque, and I know several guys who drag race theirs and they are making a close to 1000 ft-lb and 1000+ Hp.

The kit that I just put into a 4l80e claims to be able to hold around 900 HP. Granted its a full manual valve body...but still...

all you need to make the 4l80e a six speed is a modified computer no work inside required and they run 700r4 behind big power motors for years thats all a 4l80e is but elect
80 stands for 80k it can pull

you can not make a 4L80e six speed by simply changing electronics. internal parts are required and not cheap.

the 4l80e is the e-version of the th400, not 700r4.

Talk to Ron at Suncoast about their 4L80E, you can tell him Will (the guy building the Twin Turbo 6.5) gave you his name. I will be using their 4L80E in my truck, very impressive transmission. He will be able to answer any questions you may have about it

If you look at what TCI does to make a "six speed" in a 4L80 case, it appears as though they changed the planetary to make 2.97, 1.57, and 1.00 to 1, then use the .75:1 "overdrive" on each of the above ratios. This gives them 2.97, 2.23, 1.57, 1.18,1.00, and .75 to 1.

If you somehow managed to make the electronics on a stock 4L80 do the same thing with the overdrive, you'd have 2.48, 1.86, 1.48, 1.11, 1.00, and .75 to 1. Easy? Beats me, i know bupkus about automatic transmission insides, but TCI already had a "low drag" planetary gear for the TH-400 AND the 4L80 that had a 2.75 1st gear and a 1.57 2nd gear. If the overdrive came from it's own planetary set, shifting it independently in an electronically controlled transmission is just flipping light switches.
