4wd engage light does not come on

Well i just noticed this the other day that when i engage the 4wd the little light with the 4 wheels does not come on like it normally has in the past. Although my 4wd works great and perfectly normal, so why would the light not come on in the dash? thanks for any reply's!!!

I asked the dealer the same thing when I first got my truck they said it only comes on when there is a problem.

thats rediculous that they said that! My dad and brother both have an 06 one being an lly and one being lBZ and that little 4wd light works whenever engaged.(both were brand new). Well i suppose its nothing to worry about, its just a nice reminder that i left it in 4wd down the road....i guess the little hummmm down the rd and the short turning radius is also a good reminder haha

It doesnt come on because you have the push button transfer case.

it only comes on if you have the manual shift xfer case

Well see thats what i thought, but to make sure i put the pickup in the direct sunlight on the gauge cluster and sure enough i saw the litte stick drawing with the 4 wheels. But it just prob doesnt show up cuz this is pushbutton . I double checked my dads 06 w/ pushbutton just now...no light...checked my brothers 06/manual engage...LIGHT! Another confirmation, checked manual says light comes on when MANUALY engaged. The light is now popping on in my head! lol Thanks guys!

Yep all the clusters are the same...it just depends which lights are told to be turned on by the truck's data bus.

If you look closely at a gas truck's cluster, they still have the glow plug light, etc...
