Biggest Tires for a 4 inch lift???

I just bought a 2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax today and im very happy with it so far. It has a 4" lift with 33 inch tires. The tires dont have much lfe left on them, what is the biggest tire size i can fit with the 4" lift? Also, whats the deal on emissions testingin california? Do i need to smog it or am I good with that? Does it have a catalyst converter? Anything i need to have on the exhaust system to be legal in California? Thanks, Daniel

You should be able to fit 35in tires on that truck. My truck is stock height with 6 turns on the torsion bars and fit 285 75 16. and thats equivilant to 33in tires.

u should be able to fit a 35x12.5 on a 8" wide wheel with 4.5" of BS. if ur running a 10" wide ull need more backspacing or need to crank ur t-bars and some trimming. what brand lift is this?

35s will work with cranked t-bars and maybe some fender liner/bumper air-dam trimming. However, 35s will kill the mileage and accleration of the DMax with stock gears. Even with a power adder 35s with 3.73s drag the truck down. Guys who tow can only tow on a 60-75 HP setting, and most of those who did have 35s went back to 33s so they could tow better.

My recommendation for stock gears? 33s. I also would not get 10" wide rims--they stick out very far and that reduces fenderwell clearance when turning.

I have a 34" tire under my truck with just torsions cranked and 2" block in the rear. If you hve done a 4" suspension lift, you should be more then able to do a 35-37" tire under your truck

I have no idea what you're talking about. I run 35's and my mileage is fine. We get 20-24 if the wife drives and 17 if I drive, if that tells you how I drive..

Stock height truck except some TB crankage.

Nothing personal and I am not questioning your integrity. However, I think you are mistaken. I simply do not believe your wife gets 20-24 mpg with 35s, though I do believe your wife gets better mileage than you. Wives usually do that................

Now I can accept you getting 17 MPG at freeway speeds. I get about 16 mpg at 80 mph on the freeway. When I had 35s and stock gears, I got barely 15 mpg at 80 mph and that was not "fine" to me. When I had no lift and 33s, my best was 21.9 and 21.6 at 58-68 mph. Average was 18-20 mpg at those speeds.
