Speedliner Bed Liner VS Line-x VS Rhino

I think I finally have the truck (GASP). I'll believe it when I see it.

Having said that the dealer says they can do an over the rail Speedliner for about $450.

I searched and couldn't find any recent information relating to this particular liner so I thought I would ask.

What have been your experiences with it. How does it compair to the the Line-X and Rhino?

I personally have looked at the Rhino and Line-X and am leaning towards the Line-X.

Just looking for some personal input on the Speedliner.

I have had a line-x on 5 trucks now, and is always the first thing I do to a new one. They are much better, longer lasting, and look great.

Had Line-X and Rhino. Line-X with X-tra (UV block) is by far the best.

I had speedliner done on all of the accessories like my grille gaurd, bumper, headache rack, & toolbox on my old work truck that I used to have. It was a whole lot cheaper than rhino or linex, and it held up great. It never lost its shine, and even with me bumping into things it never ripped, scratched, etc. Now I have rhino liner, and love it as well. I would have gotten speedliner again, but I there are no speedliner dealers in my town like there where I went to college. I would recommend either.

Speedliner is a significantly different product than LINE-X and Rhino.

Speedliner (and Superliner): Solvent based brushable polyurea paint, much like marine paint. (Rhino and LINE-X contain no solvents.) You mix one gallon of resin with one quart of activator and brush it on, roll it on, or use a hopper gun. Dry time is a few hours, cures in 72 hours. Since polyurea alone does not have good adhesion properties, Speedliner and Superliner must first apply an adhesive primer so that the product will stick to the bed. (Rhino and LINE-X do not need a primer.) Some dealers use non-fading pigments, some don't, you need to inquire with your specific Speedliner dealer. The solvent in Speedliner is ethyl acetate, which is EXTREMELY dangerous, the vapors alone are literally explosive. Speedliner's website states that after 2,000 hours (that's less than 3 months), the bedliner can lose up to 20% of its gloss.

Rhino: 100% polyurethane, tear strength 145 pli, temp tolerance 175 degrees, uses a cold/low pressure application system, softer at Shore A 92.5, gels in 30 to 45 seconds, dries in 45 minutes, cures in 24 hours. Optional UV topcoat is called Rhino Shine. It will eventually peel off the liner and must be reapplied (the consumer can buy a bottle of it and do it themselves). It's thick and not fun to apply.

LINE-X: Polyurethane/polyurea blend, tear strength 295 pli, temp tolerance 220 degrees, uses a heat/high pressure application system (for better adhesion and a more uniform looking final texture), harder at Shore D 45, dries in 4 seconds (thus follows the bed’s contours much better), cures in 24 hours. Several UV products are available: Ultra Shield, Nason, or Xtra. All are one-time applications, Xtra is the best (made by Dupont only for LINE-X, contains a Kevlar micro pulp for extreme durability). Even though Speedliner will add a little vial of Kevlar to their bedliner, LINE-X is the only Dupont authorized user of Kevlar for truck bedliners.

I have had two trucks with Speedliner and three trucks with Line-X. I like them both. I went with Line-X on my last two because the local Speedliner dealer will not spray over the rails. Both hold up very well. I think the Speedliner holds its shine better than Line-X. I think Line-X has an optional coating that holds its shine better than the standard coating but I can't confirm that. The Line-X does look cleaner than Speedliner over the rails. I hope this helps. I think you would be happy with either.

I think I'm going with the Speedliner over the rail and in the fender wells. This particular dealer will do that job through the Glosserman Chevrolet Dealership. That's a good thing I think.
