driving light trailer brake help please
Not sure if these problems are connected or in isolation.
Recently hooked up my enclosed trialed and found my trailer brake control works intermittantly and only when manually squezing it by hand ie when pushing my brake pedal, the light on the controler does not even come on. Next problem my right rear driving light is not workiong, tied buld, buld fine. Then tested socket and there is no power to socket, all fuses good. Will chase problem to a ground or wire issues - any tips Next my driving lights on my trailer do not work. I tested the plug at back of truck and there is no power to driving light connection, again all fuses are good. Any advise would be awesome!!! 2002 crew cab, 6.6. 2500 hd |

Not sure about the 02's, but 03 and up have different fuses for trailer lights in the fuse box under the hood.
Did you look there? As far as the brake pedal not activating the unit, that's controlled by the CHMSL fuse in the 03 ups, again I'm not sure about the 02's.

My '00 has separate fuses for the trailer wiring so I assume it would be also true for an '02.

Checking fuses... check those two 30 amp fuses on the inside edge of the underhood fuse block in the corner of the box, marked stud #1 and stud #2. The rear one should power the brake controller to trailer brakes, and the other powers the auxiliary power to the trailer. Also there is the trailer marker light (tail light) fuse there, along with a trailer back-up light fuse. In the left drivers side of the dash is a fuse block. Check the trailer turn signal fuses there. That is a total of six fuses for the trailer.
How do I know...... tied the trailer cord so it didn't drag on the ground then jack knifed it into a garage and cut the cord over the frame. ![]()

Hate to drag this topic back up but I found it after searching for a solution to my problem. My trailer running lights aren't working. My brake and turn signals work fine but both trailer light will not turn on with truck lights (night time driving lights).
I took a probe and checked the plug on the truck and sure enough the plug is not getting any voltage for the driving lights. I know my probe is good because I was able to check the +12v, right/left turn and brakes. They all work and the probe verified this. So I know I have a good probe and good ground. So the obvious problem is that there is a blown fuse or the truck connector is bad. I replaced the truck connector to that is now brand new. I want to check the fuses but the idiot that I bought the truck from lost the manual. SO I have no way of knowing which fuse is for the trailer running lights. The truck is a 2006 GMC 2500. Can anyone help me out and tell me which fuse is the trailer running lights? A photo would be super too if there is one available. Is it inside next to drivers door or under hood on drivers side?

Brian as usual your a huge help. I think you forgot to post the image but I googled the fuse block and found one. Long story short it was a simple 15a fuse. They are located under the hood on the drivers side. As you're looking at the fuse block from the drivers side of the truck there are 3 fuses in the upper left corner. The one on far left is the trailer parking lights. Here is a copy of the image just in case someone else needs it.
http://www.justanswer.com/car/1qxej-...06-sierra.html I have got to order an owners manual for this truck.

Hey thanks Shasta. That was a big help. I will probably still try and find a printed copy for sale so I'll have one in the glove box just in case. I don't always have a way to look at a soft copy in a bind.
