HELP - remote start install questions

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra SLE 2500HD Duramax


I finally received the xpresskit db-all bypass and had it programmed for my truck, so I am now ready to attempt my first remote starter install. I have a few questions however that have come up during the research stage of my install. The Pro-start remote starter I bought is made by auto start for the canadian market, and will interface with the xpresskit bypass using the data to data harness as well as one wire to the OBD connector.

My problem is trying to figure out whether or not I need to hook up the 2nd ignition wire as well as the 2nd accessories wire. The wireing diagram for the truck shows the location of these wires but the remote starter I have only has 6 main wires in the "main Ignition harness labelled as follows=

Yellow - ignition
red - 12v (battery)
orange - accessories
purple - starter
green - 5th relay
red - +12v (battery)

So do I need to hook up the 2nd ignition wire? and if so where does it go to? Likewise with the 2nd accessory wire, is it necessary and where does it hook up to? Also anyone know why one of the two red wires says +12v and the other says just 12v

Also it says you can hook up a optional starter kill relay. what would be that advantage of this?

On the wiring diagram for the truck it says the location of the tach wire and says its 4cyl, and on the remote starter there are jumpers on the side that say Tach high or tach threshold normal. the jumpers are currently set to tach threshold normal position, would this be correct?

Finally on the remote starter besides the main ignition harness, I will hook up the ground, tach, hood switch, brake switch, parking lights, & glow plug input.

I was NOT planning on hooking up the following as I am under the assumption that the bypass will take care of this stuff, unless you guys see one of these that should be hooked up regardless. they are as follows
neg door input, (ground when running????? not sure about this one), ext trigger input, parking brakes input, starter kill output, pos. door input, disarm output / pts output, rearm output, unlock output, lock output, trunk output.

And last but not least where is the best place for the remote start antenna, mine looks like a little box with one antenna wire sticking out on one end and the spot for the harness on the opposite end. should I mount this near the headliner with the antenna facing down towards the dash so the harness goes directly up into headliner or sideways.

Thanks for your input. I just figured that since a forum is great place to share ideas and information that I would try here first, that way then the information becomes public and may help others in the future. I know that I have figured out a lot of things in the past just buy reading other people's discussions on forums.

I would ignore those that have nothing to put forth but "have someone else do it" or "get the questions answered by the compnay" when we know the companies don't want anyone but their installers to have the data.

This is a very doable project by yourself or for anyone with one wit of common sense. It's really too bad there are so many that aren't capable of such a task. I fought the same fight a couple weeks ago, and got a lot of comments that lent nothing to the project, but there were some that helped out.

Unfortunately yours is a bit different than mine due to the branding, but the concept is the same. Your questions are valid as I read several times that my Ign2 hookup was necessary, sorry I can't answer for sure on that.. As far as what you listed as unnecessary to connect appears correct-they should be covered by the module bypass.

No to the 2nd acc wire The 2nd ign wire my have to be connected,if the remote starter unit does not have the inputs/outputs for them it my not work right
+12 is battery power hot at all times.
Starter kill is is where you have to command the remote first before using the key to start the vehicle it has to be done every time before the vehicle will start,the only downfall is if the battery dies in the remote it will not activate the relay to allow the key to start the vehicle.
Tach normal first as it is a standard setting.
The door inputs are for the power door locks connection option if required.
The best place to mount the ant is center of the windshield up near the top above the inside mirror and run the wire along the headliner and down the inside drivers side pillar trim panel.
All wires should be soldered as well.
Canadian tire sells this brand it is a low end unit.

Any idea what the wire labeled 5th relay is for? There is also a jumper labeled 5th relay and in the manual it says 2nd ignition, 2nd acc and something else but doesn't tell you how to position the jumper.

ok so I just noticed in the top corner of the wiring diagram it it shows the jumper positions for that wire called 5th relay. so there is a jumper for 2nd starter, and one for 2nd ignition and one for 2nd accessories. So I guess you pick what you want to use that wire for and set the jumper for that. So does this mean that I do have to hook up the second ignition then or maybe 2nd acc? Also if i do have to hook up the 2nd ignition, do I need to use a relay or do I just hook it up directly to that wire?
