How do I Reset the Theft Deterrent System "The Sequence?"

I heard from someone that theres a procedure to unlocking/reset the Theft Deterrent system.Like turning on the key ,hit the start let it sit with key on 10-15m,try again,then something else.The dealers here in town just want to tow it in$$.

I had a shop put on all new white handles,tail lights, they shorted out the tail and brake light fusses and one other,While I was chasing all the blown fusses the battery ran down and when I tried to crank it with the low battery all the dash goes crazy and I figure thats when it went into locked security, light on the dash, or the thingy in the ignition or the sensor in the door lock??Since then I fully charged the battery's while not hooked up to the truck,like reseting it,Nothing now , both 1-2 keys want crank it, the security lock on the dash is lit with key on, it just spins over, I read that the security is cutting off the fuel pump.

2003 Chevy 3500 diesel.

Try This:
1. Put the key into the keyway and turn it to the ON (RUN) position. A "Security" indicator light on the dashboard will stay on for 10 minutes.
2. Within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF" then return to the ON (RUN) position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes. (DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY)
3. Again, within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON (RUN) position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes. (DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY)
4. When the light goes off for the third time, the new key is programmed into the computer and will start the car. Remove the key and then re-insert it into the ignition lock and start the car.
All previously stored codes will be erased. To stop the process at any time, simply remove the key and use an existing key to start the car.

Is that the procedure for programing to the key,or reseting just the fault codes and or does it also reset the Securty sytem to the key?

Well I gave up,Called a wrecker. The wrecker guy said he knew of some way to re code it and if that didn't work,Tow.The GM dealer said they had to reprogram the computer and clear out codes, also wanted the #2 key, I think it was the computer didn't recognize the keys and with the battery real low it went into theft deterrent mode,$223.00


Just think if I or you were out of town,on a holiday weekend and the only way to get it fixed was towing it to a dealer
