Bilstein 4600's rubbing paint
I replaced my rear shocks with Bilstein 4600s about 6 months ago. Over the weekend I was doing some maintance and noticed that both shocks have the paint rubbed off. It's about 2-4 inches on the outer surface just below the plastic shield. It is worn down to bare metal. The paint is feathered around the area. Could it be the blue plastic shield that is doing it? There really isn't anything around the shock. Has anyone had this problem? I've got to do something before the salt starts flying or it will rust off before spring.

It's the shield don't worry about it. Mine did the same and had a 100k on them.

Thanks That's what I figured. I'll just keep a eye on them this winter to see if rust become an issue.
