Lift questions
OK so Ive always wanted to lift my truck, but I keep hearing horror stories, about stock suspension parts wearing out fast. You hear stories of ball joints every 36k miles etc....Does everyone with a lift go through this. Im really wanting to do a moderate lift like 4 inch or so to clear 35s, but I just really dont want headaches as this is my daily driver. So are there plenty of people out there that have lifts that dont have issues wearing out these parts. FYI, I dont offroad much, I may see a dirt road from time to time, but mainly daily driver...little bit of towing hear and there and thats it.
Thanks |

I have a 6" lift that is cranked up to about 7" and has been that way since it rolled off the lot. It has 105K miles and has seen plenty of rough dirt roads. So far I have only replaced the front hubs once, one at 75K and the other at 80K. Every time I take my truck in for service or alignment (2 different places) I have the front end checked out and it checks out fine. I probably will need new tie rods soon.

The only parts that prematurely fail on these trucks are the pittman/idler arms, and tie rod ends. They still fail on stock trucks, just a little faster on a lifted truck due to bigger tires. Me and my partner have done lots of lifts on these trucks and most trucks need those parts around the 60-70K mark, some coming later in mileage.
Lift the truck, the only thing you'll be sorry about is if you didn't go higher.
