opti-lube differences

So all this talk of additives and 2-stroke talk has me really thinking I should get an additive, plus my truck nearly gelled the other morning... Mostly an old fuel filter, but still the same result.

So my question is Opti-lube seems to be god send among additives, i know i know it's debatable, but I can't see any difference between the 3 opti-lube XPD, Summer, and winter blends. Other than the winter has a lower gel point, and the summer is a much higher concentration.

Anyone know the differences between the 3?

Opti Lube,
Summer Blend, doesnt contain an anti gel agent.
XPD, prevent fuel gelling in temps as low as -20°F.
Winter Blend, prevents fuel gelling in temps as low as -50°F.

I can't comment on the anti-gel effects for Opti-Lube XPD since I live in SoCal where 50 degrees is considered a cold day. I have been using the product since I purchased my 05 three years ago....Injector Balance rates are good and hopefully stay that way...

well if really the only difference is the antigelling capability, I'd run the summer blend as it's a much higher concentration and is nearly the same price per gallon, treats 2500+gallons vs. 512 of the xpd. but in illinois the temps can get sub zero occassionally so sounds like I need the xpd.

helps if I read... in the FAQ section on their site it says the summer opti-lube summer blend has no cetane booster.

Winter and XPD have cetane boost, I don't think the summer blend does.

I'd run the straight winter blend- you will probably need all the help you can with the IL fuel over there; with the Bio they blend in (also something to consider is to make sure that Optilube is compatible with a strong bio mix!!!) you will wax filters easier/faster in cold temps. By the time you pull a couple of filters due to waxing you will have been better off time and money wise just getting the proper product to start out with... Just sayin.

B20 is the limit they mix too, I typically stay away from lower traffic stations.
