Kodiak_Lover --> It would help us if you filled in your signature - year, model, engine, tranny, etc . . . of your truck.
I'm not sure how your truck hasn't shut down completely if you've never changed your fuel filter. Many of us find on our trucks that we need to change our fuel filters every 5,000 miles. How many miles on your truck? Like Gasout said . . . I would change your fuel filter out. It is pretty easy to do and I suspect if that light won't go out . . . there is a reason.
