4 wheel drive problem

I tried to use 4 wheel drive on a cold morning a week ago and I got a message that read "service four wheel drive". After the truck heated up a bit, it shifted in and out of 4 wheel drive with no problem. Any suggestions?

To cold out maybe?
I know the 4wd is engaged by some heated fluid that pushs a pin or something like that.
Maybe HeyMcCall will chime in and clear it all up or you can send him a PM.

Cold oil not letting it shift would be my guess.....

I am going with a bad connection or cold or oil, if memory serves me our trucks now have the gear driven front actuator.

fvstringpicker,

Would you please provide the last 8-digits of your VIN (PM if you prefer), so I may look into this further for you?
