parking brake adjustment tool
My parking brake needs adjustment. While it was up on the lift a while back and I noticed the drivers side rear wheel had adjustment access hole below the axle and it is accessible. The passenger side hole is above the axle and is not accessible with a standard adjustment tool. Is there a special tool for adjusting that side of the parking brake?

The actual procedure in the manual tells you to pull the rotor and use a large caliper to measure the inside of the drum of the rotor and the outside widest part of the park brake shoes.
The only other thing I can think of is to try and get in there with a small pick tool from the outside.

Yes they are through the slot in the backing plate VIA the star wheel. You really need a offset adjustment tool to get to them. If your lucky you just need to take the slack out of the cable by pushing the pedal to the floor 3 times it will do the rest.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably have to get in there and take a look.

did mine couple of months ago with axle seals. I adjusted the high side with a long thin screw driver and a droplight to see wtf was goin on. 2500hd ALOT easier than 3500 dually. Know its tough but be patient. BTW stupid local dealer told me not at all adjustable, wheel seals went bad i opened it up and seen star wheel and plastic plug. Not sure if axle (hub)seals are reusable........ four times ive removed hub the seals fell apart. good luck!!!!!

go to NAPA and ask for a "BRAKE SPOON" for adjusting drum brakes. should be like $8 or $10
go any where else and they will look at you like you have two heads.

Here's some adjusting info I added at post #8:
emergency brake adjustment The adjusting tools are cheap, buy a couple of different ones to find one that works. As for the large factory caliper, (maybe a OTC or Kent Moore), this is manufactured where you measure your brake drum I.D. and lock tool, and O.D. on this tool is slightly smaller than the I.D. to give proper clearance. New it cost about $100.
