I have 235's on my 03. I don't think the offset has been changed cause mine came with the stupid looking 215's too.
Mine touch when loaded with the rv, about 3600lbs of bed weight. Have been coast to coast with no tire problems at all. This is my second set of 235's at 96k miles. There are guys on here who will tell you their tires don't touch, but with the abuse I've given these tires, I'm not concerned about the sidewalls touching.

Any tires with rim guards like the goodyear wrangler silent armor seem to touch even with max psi and unloaded.

Keep in mind DOT requires a 1" minimum between dual tires.

I have seen a couple of sets of rear 235/85/16s that were on factory steel wheels blown out. They rubbed together and blew out on that part of the sidewall. Aluminum wheels fit fine.

maybe it's because the newer trucks went to 6.5 inch rims (didn't they?) My 97 has 6 inch wide rims, I went from stock 225/75 up to 235/85, looks like it should instead of like a lowrider. I have no rub issues at all, not even close. I put 3 tons of mix on this winter, ended up carrying it around for a week and a half. I should have had 80 in the rear tires but I think they were closer to 72 for whatever reason. That was the heaviest load yet and they were almost touching. I regularly put 3000 lbs on it and the tires don't even squat. I just have cheapo Cooper off brands right now, but they are ten ply. I can't believe how many people say their 235/85s rub. I also can't believe people will drive with the duals rubbing. That's just asking for trouble. Stupid if you ask me. If mine were to start rubbing I would get off the road and correct the problem immediately before a tire failed and I lost control and killed somebody. But that's just me.

When installing 235/85's on a Dually, you need to be sure you are buying load range E tires. I have had everything from BFG to Coopers on my differant trucks and I prefer BFG Commercial T/As for a 1 ton. BFG has a Traction version if you need an aggresive tread for off road. I personally have the 235 Commercial Traction T/A's on my truck, and I have been very pleased so far. 20K miles and they look close to new.(Fiance keeps rubbing curbs with the passenger rear)
Good luck Tony
