Dealer Double Your Trade in Value On A New Car?

Alright, i heard an advertisement from a local dealer saying they would "double the trade-in value of your trade on a new car". I talked to the salesman and they are clueless. The only thing they told me was that they would have to get the details from their manager but somehow they didn't know them off the top of their head. They said that the only thing they know if it's double your value minus mileage? Anyone else ever heard of it? Sounds like a fake sales pitch, but I would like to stick them to their lie! lol When they finally told me my trade value was 20-24K I told the salesman that I was looking for them to double that and I buy a LTZ 2009 with the 0% for 72 months. He chuckled and said "looks like you are wanting an even trade" and I said well tell me about your program because that's what it leads me to believe! I sure wish I could stick it to them for even putting an ad like that on the radio!

lol, yeah I have them scattering for an answer right now. It was on a local radio ad, so I am holding that against them! So far I have talked to a new cars salesman, a used car salesman, a used car sales manager, who knows, maybe soon i'll be talking to the president of the dealership!

Just got my answer... After 4 different people and finally threatening that they have false advertising they got back to me... In a very indirect way... The salesman's words were "GM is giving an extra incentive on a non GM vehicle, so there's no extra incentive for you since you have a chevrolet". Still didn't answer my question about how the double your trade-in value works, but I think he was just trying to get rid of me since I basically told him that it sounded like they had false advertising going on! O well I knew it wasn't going to be true, but now I see how they give you the run around, don't want to give what the trade is worth, and want to get you into the dealership! Good luck trading!

I am in iraq and I have no idea what incentives are out there. As a former salesperson I am assuming that there is or will be some sort of sale with a short timeline. It end up something like this.

Once you sit down it will most likely be somethign along the lines of this:

Step 1-Print Sticker for vehicle you are looking at (more than likely some sort of truck &older inventory.
Step 2-Print trade in for your vehicle (kelley, nada, edmunds all within a thousand or so of one another)

Retail for retail is what you are looking at right?
Step 3 is the where the advertising and numbers alignment comes into play.
Step 3-Take all rebates, incentives, some mark-up, and there you go. This can add up anywhere between 5 and 15k, depending on what vehicle range they have selected for the "sale."

As for that 0%apr thing...don't expect the big rebate combined with 0%, big mistake. And if that isn't doubling the trade, they will find something that has been sitting around long enough (may have 12k of adds..."at retail price")to take a hit.

You hear what you want to hear, and the dealer gets you inside. They will end up pissing people off, but the thought is something like this: If you are at the dealership and you are wanting a vehicle for a big discount; and if the vehicle or vehicles you want is what has large incentives (for a short period of time), then "there is no time like now." <----unless you drove an 2hrs away on your only day off, then you may want to burn the place because you are that pissed off.

The dealership I worked at had a sale like that every once in a while (which isn't uncommon for dealerships). We had people drive in from time to time driving an hour or so away because, "the lady on the phone said I was approved," or these "big sales."

A few times we gave a few tanks of fuel, and sometimes a $20 gift cards but don't expect that. Also, I know it wasn't much, and the people were still pissed off afterwards, but we didn't blame them.
