4.5 silverado sierra
i read on another forum the 4.5 dmax 1/2 ton is rumored for a possible july debut? anyone else have something to add to this? ive been tooling around in my 5.3 gasser for a few years now waiting on this to happen, i hope this isnt all hype and it really does happen (at an "affordable" price) paying 60g's for any vehicle, in my mind, is absurd.

I was involved with developing key parts on this engine. Last I knew it was still on the shelf collecting dust. I'm sure I would have heard about any resurection because more development work needs to be done to bring it to the latest emission standards.

Kevin - Actually there is a Diesel Chevy Cruze and Diesel Grand Cherokee on their way this Summer.
Mercedes just added GLK diesel and have several more available. Non heavy truck diesel sales are up this year.

Ya,that link didn't give any details just to look for a diesel in 1/2 ton GMs and Rams in July.If in fact there was a new diesel for 1/2 ton trucks being developed you would think that there would be some details about it.Hard to keep that a secret...

Again, I have not seen any new diesel development work for GM come across my desk. So, if the "rumor" is true, they are buying it from another engine manufacturer. I see they are trying to buy back their 10% stake in Isuzu. Maybe that is the source.

i will be "unhappy camper mike" if they finally start offering the 1/2 diesel. ive waited and waited since i first heard the rumor a few years back. i also ended up buying a 3/4 ton dmax recently as my needs could no longer be met with the gasser 5.3. oh well, if and when it happens i probably will not be a fan of the price tag anyways. by the time im ready for another rig there should be plenty of used ones on the market at an affordable (to me) price.

Looks like Nissan will have a small displacement Cummins in 2014.From what I've been able to find on the interwebz it wil be a 4 cylinder.I could NEVER bring myself to buy either a Nissan or a Toyota no matter what badass engine might be in it.
