I installed a new tuned ECM the other day and had my scangauge II still hooked up. Now I have a security message in the DIC. Any one know how I can get rid of this?

The truck's VIN and the VIN in the ECM are most likely different.

Need to look into finding somebody with EFI Live or a Tech II to do a security re-learn and you should be up and running.

One more question, where did you get the ECM?

duramaxtuner.com I sent an email to them this evening to see if they can give me some help. I didn't get a chance to call them today. I am going to give them a call tomorrow if I think about it.

Does the truck start and run?

If so then what I said is to get the truck up and running. I had to do a VATS relearn for my truck to start when I put in a new ECM.

If it runs then its probably some petty little thing causing the security system in the truck and the ECM to not communicate properly.

Nick should get you all squared away.

Thats good, so it must be some little thing that is not liking that new ECM lol.

Does your scanner pull any codes? IDK, if it will pull the security codes or not.

Yeah, I cannot find any codes or anything. I have a snapon mt2500 "redbrick" and could not find anything with it either last night. The one thing I noticed is when trying to read the vin and something else (can't remember what it was) the numbers were all jumbled up and unreadable......

Hmmm, yeah if you should be able to pull codes but with all the numbers being jumbled up it probably won't communicate.

Did you give Nick a call?

I had the same issue. You have to "marry" the ECM and BCM. IIRC, it's a combination of a key on/off cycle, wait 10 minutes, repeat. Do that a total of 3 times and the truck should fire. I'm not positive on the details, but that's what's going on. DO a search for marrying BCM to ECM.

OK, I searched and found this -

Step 1 – Attempt to start the vehicle. It will crank, but not run. The security light will be flashing on and off. Leave the key in the ‘run’ position for exactly 10 minutes, then the security light will stay solid or go off.

Step 2 – Turn the key to the ‘off’ position for 10 seconds. Attempt to start the vehicle. Some vehicles will run at this point, although many will require you repeat repeat Step 1 two more times. Make sure turn the key to the ‘off’ position for 10 seconds before each 10 minute cycle.

Step 3 – The vehicle is now ready to relearn the proper code. Turn the key ‘off’ for 10 seconds and then ‘crank’ the vehicle. It should be running now. The security light might stay on solid for several minutes afterwards, depending on your system.

I knew there was a 10 minute thing in there somewhere. LOL
