Codes P0088 and P0090 - diagnosis?

I had these 2 codes thrown recently P0088 and P0090 - according to autozone

I took it to a mechanic and he said it is most likely the fuel pressure regulator. I replaced that within 20-30xxx miles ago. And the symptoms are significantly different than when I needed to change it before. Also, the first time, I don't remember there being these codes.

The mechanic also suggested that there might be a wiring issue, because it doesn't do it all the time. It is intermittent.

The P0090 says it is a "Fuel quantity solenoid circuit open"
P0088 is "Rail pressure signal is above maximum limit"

Symptoms - when i start it, the idle is incredibly rough, feels like a clogged carb. (Maybe I could check that.....) And there is a really loud knocking to the engine. It sounds like an old Dodge when it does this. Then after a bit it may just quit. But if it doesn't, then the speed won't get past 30, and there is no power at all.

any suggestions where to start? I hate to buy a pricey Fuel Press Regulator and take the time to do it, and still have the same issues.

I have an Edge box on it, and it is disconnected right now. It does the same thing with or without the Edge. One tech suggested I check the pins in the connectors where the Edge plugs in. Anybody know what color wire is the Fuel Pressure?

Any other suggestions? thanks
Jeff

oh yeah, this is an 04 with 155,xxx - injectors changed at 75000, then again at 132,xxx. New exhaust a week ago from the turbo out.

Fuel pressure sensor unhooked? Maybe the regulator is unhooked?
